Gosh! It was an amazing experience of talking with Eric in this episode. It was absolutely my pleasure to have this chance to know Eric as a person and artist. For his introduction, Eric shared his professional trajectory of moving from a journalist photographer to an artist and the intellectual journey of developing his art practice. From these earnest information, I have gained an insight of Eric's art and understanding the reason that Eric was interested in VR. Also, his journalist photographer practice and knowledge about journalism have given him a unique perspective to perceive art, and a particular methodology to approach his art projects.
In this episode, Eric and I talked about loads and loads of issues and problems associated with VR experience. We did not only exchanged our experience of visiting the current exhibition 'Untold Australia VR showcase' shown in ACMI, but also discussed about the technology, language, social impacts affiliated with the VR experiences. The conversation went on naturally, following an uninterrupted pace of ideas and thought exchange. Towards the ends, we particularly discussed about VR in the context of contemporary art. We asked if VR was only an another means for the artists passively to engage with a political reality, or provoked more active changes in the reality.
